We are in the process of specifying two ambulances for 1669 Emergency Operations.
Vehicle One:
The first option we are looking at is an EV Ambulance, photos below. This would be an innovative project, as no Foundation or MoPH ALS team use an EV vehicle. The ambulance was premiered at the Bangkok Motor Show 2025 and presents us with an interesting opportunity to provide a ground-breaking service.
There are a number of points that we will be raising with the company regards design features and subtle changes that we would be looking at IF we were to procure this vehicle.
The obvious benefits are that the vehicle would have a notional zero emission at exhaust pipe (as in NO emissions), the running cost per 100KM is cheaper than a conventional ICE diesel power train, and most importantly, the publicity from running such a vehicle would be considerable.
The drawbacks include range, charging facilities, and several design features that would need to be changed to make the vehicle suitable for our operations.

Vehicle Two:
This will be a conventional diesel ICE power train, either a 5 year old new shape Toyota Commuter conversion or a purpose built newly registered Toyota Commuter.
Benefits include greater range, established service and maintenance system in place, established vehicle design in which all the ‘first generation’ bugs have been eradicated and a known brand with reputational support.
Disadvantages include cost per 100km, servicing & maintenance costs, depreciation and availability of spare parts (for a 2nd use vehicle).
